The full moon on April 16th, also known as the Paschal Full Moon, is an important event to those who celebrate Easter. Each year, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon. Thus in 2022, Easter is April 17th right after the full moon. Serving Lunch 5 days a week: The Center serves a delicious, nutritionally balanced hot meal daily at noon. Individuals 50 years and older and their guests are always welcome to join us. Lunch is served daily Monday through Friday at noon. Updated 04/01/2022 - For individuals age 60 and older, we ask a suggested donation of $5.00 but all are welcome regardless of their ability to pay. For individuals under 60, lunch is $8. Contact Mt. SENIOR "HUBS" Many seniors in King County experience or are at risk of experiencing social isolation because of few social supports, lack of nearby family and mobility issues that cause them to be home-bound. Seniors in some communities may be at particular risk of isolation, such as individuals who are part of an immigrant community, Native American elders, non- or limited- English speakers, individuals who identify as LGBTQ or seniors in rural areas who may be geographically isolated. King County's investment focuses on reaching seniors, age 55 and over, and their caregivers who have not traditionally benefited from the existing network of seniors centers in King County. Far East Senior Hub (FESH) The recognized resource center on aging services and provide support, outreach, connection, and social engagement for isolated seniors in rural East King County. Serving King County Council District 3 African Diaspora Seniors Hub The recognized resource center on aging services and provide support, outreach, connection, and social engagement for elders of the African Diaspora in Central Seattle and South King County. Serving King County Council Districts 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 El Centro de La Raza Senior Hub The recognized resource center on aging services and provide support, outreach, connection, and social engagement for Latinos, Spanish speaking seniors, communities of color, immigrants, refugees and seniors with limited English skills. All levels of volunteering are greatly appreciated. There are many opportunities for all to get involved. Nutrition Lunch Program - Posted on 04/01/2022 - Want a little routine to your week? Do you enjoy how food brings people together? Mt. Si Senior Center seeks volunteers to help prepare and serve 25-30 meals each day. Volunteers are needed WEDNESDAYS from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. We are also looking for THURSDAYS & FRIDAYS BEGINNING IN JUNE. Call us at 425-888-3434 or visit http://www.mtsiseniorcenter.org/volunteering for more info. Outreach - We need people to make phone calls as part of an extended and ongoing outreach effort that aims to make new visitors to the Center feel welcomed. Spanish Speaking Volunteers - In order to bring inclusive programs to our Spanish-speaking community members, Mt. Si Senior Center and SeaMar are seeking volunteers willing to act as translators and hosts for activities and our congregate lunch program. This position is a great way to give back to the community and have some fun at the same time. Call 425-888-3434 for more information. The Fundraising Committee seeks volunteers with an interest in several aspects of fundraising efforts including: * Donation Solicitations - Several volunteers are       needed to solicit quality items for our various fundraisers and special events that are held throughout the year. * Greenery & Flowers Manager - Volunteers are needed to help with 2 to 3 greenery fundraisers each year. Volunteers will help with sales in the community and help handle distribution of the items ordered. * Event Team - Several fundraising events are planned for the fall, and we will need help with event setup, decoration, registration, and clean up. ​Volunteer Drivers for Trips: as needed. Travel to interesting and fun places for day trips. We also have some over night trips ​Kitchen Coffee Servers: Mon - Fri 9am - 12:30 pm Front Desk to help with answering phones: Mon - Fri 1pm - 4pm Volunteers to Drive Seniors to medical appointments: as needed (must be 25 years or older) ​Exterior Landscaping & Maintenance: March/April through October, set your own hours between 9am - 4pm Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at Mt. This service takes people from door-to-door within North Bend, Snoqualmie, Fall City and parts of Preston for $1.00. Volunteer Ride Services: If you are a senior and need a ride to a medical appointment, in or outside of the Valley, call SVT at 425-888-7001 to book a ride with a volunteer in our community who will pick you up, take you to your appointment, and bring you back home in their own vehicle.
