Page Text: Posted in Uncategorized When I created my first Facebook post asking if this would be something people would be interested in, I’m sure many of you rolled your eyes and said something along the lines of “here she goes with another crazy idea again.” But something about this one really clicked for me. When I was a kid, my parents used to go to this place where we made a bunch of dinners together and brought them home to put in our freezer. It was a really fun way to spend quality time together which also lead to having home-cooked meals at the dinner table, together as a family. I started thinking about this whole thing the other day and was like “I want to do this again.” Unfortunately, the actual place we used to go isn’t in business anymore (super encouraging, right?!) but that didn’t stop me. I had been dabbling with the idea of meal planning and prepping, getting healthier, making more home-cooked meals rather than going out, and somehow all these pieces came together to form this meal prep social group. I thought about it for awhile, and even tried to talk myself out of it, but it wouldn’t go away. It came to a head when Jacob and I went to Red Robin for a meal and spent $40 shortly after I planned and prepped an entire week of meals (and leftovers) in a $70 grocery trip. The fact that we almost doubled our budgeted amount for restaurants every month since we got married was also a factor. I’m not lying when I say I have literally spent hours looking at Pinterest, thinking up ideas, searching products on Amazon, designing a website, experimenting with recipes, creating a Facebook group and just plain old brainstorming for all sorts of different aspects of this group. I already have a reflection survey and I JUST announced our first actual meet up. I am so passionate about this and I really feel like other people can resonate with at least one of my reasons for starting this group listed above. I don’t know where this “crazy idea” is going to take me, but I hope that at least one single person benefits from this adventure and I can bring people together and enjoy plenty of yummy food in the process!
