Page Text: Frequently Asked Questions Why is this beneficial? Studies repeatedly show that families who have dinner together around a table in their home experience a ton of benefits including but not limited to: better communication skills, higher performing students and improved nutrition. Being part of a community and having social interactions away from everyday are also beneficial . We are social creatures and need human interactions. It’s also super fun to grow close to other people, laugh and have fun for an afternoon. And I probably don’t have to tell you, but time away from technology is also good for you and has positive benefits. What better way to schedule some time away from Twitter than by making some food, spending time with friends, listening to some music and sipping some wine? How does this compare to meal kit services? First off, we are NOT a meal kit service. We do not prepare your meal and deliver it to your door. We hold a strong belief of spending time together, which is why we host in-person meetups. A meal kit service does not give you that community aspect. Secondly, you are the one preparing your food so you get to make it completely your own! Don’t want mushrooms in your soup? Skip adding them when you’re preparing. Rather make this recipe chicken instead of beef? Just note it on your meal choice form. Finally, there are no additional costs. You’re getting together on your own time so there are no salaries to pay, delivery fees to cover or shipping costs added. What you pay for is what you get; and that’s simply ingredients and supplies (see “Where does my money go?” for more details). Where does the food come from? All of the ingredients at your meetups are purchased from grocery stores within the area. When available, able and within budget, items will be purchased from local farmer’s markets or stores that support local agriculture. Where does my money go? All funds collected at this time go towards buying ingredients and supplies for meet ups. All ingredients are solely used for meet up preps only (leftover things like seasonings, oil, etc. are saved until until they’re used up, however many events that takes). Because we are just starting out, some supplies are personally owned by myself and group members, but I hope to slowly create a stock of items specifically for meet ups and meet ups only. Also, items will eventually wear down and break and will need replaced as time goes on.
