Page Text: Home The Games The Games Compete on the Reef The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games was first held in Cairns, Queensland in 2013, and has since been held every second year. The 2021 were amazingly our biggest and best yet despite the global pandemic, and we now look forward to the sixth instalment to be held from 25 to 28 May 2023. Cairns is the ideal location to host the Games, being one of Australia's most popular holiday destinations with a myriad of local attractions, dining, adventure sports, reef activities and entertainment within close proximity to the city centre. In 2021 nearly 2500 masters-aged men and women within Australia competed in 17 individual and team sports across the four days of competition with sports for all masters ages and interests. Early bird registration fees include a $69 Game fee, plus a sport fee per event. It is free for spectators to watch all the sports on offer. Included in the registration fee is the highly anticipated social program held over three fantastic nights with themed parties every night. 2021 also saw the first Sportsperson's Dinner featuring Games Ambassador Natalie Cook OAM OLY, Australian basketballing legend Chris Anstey, and Australian footballer Zenon Caravella, with special pricing for Games participants. There will again be a Super Early Bird prize on offer for participants (athletes and supporters) who register and pay prior to midnight on 31 December 2022.
