About me
After thirty-two years of living in rural Alberta, raising our family and teaching school, my husband and I retired and spent a year teaching conversational English in Japan and traveling in Asia. We returned home in March of 2009. While I originally started this blog to share our Asian experience with friends and family, I have enjoyed writing it so much that I intend to keep it going indefinitely.
I am the mother of three grown children and grandmother of eight. I love reading, writing, dancing, golfing, traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, keeping fit and participating in community theatre. I believe in living life to the fullest and I’m always ready to try something new.
I am a committed follower of Christ and I’m married to my best friend, Richard. Together, we spent the summer of 2011 on the island of Saipan as short term missionaries and the first half of 2013 teaching English at Liaoning Normal University in Dalian on the northeast coast of China.
Shortly after returning home from China, I was diagnosed with cancer and a new journey began. In spite of the fact that my cancer is incurable, treatment has been effective and my health is currently stable. Though I’ve been using the blog to share this experience with friends and family, I continue to write about many other issues as well. In March 2016, I introduced a weekly feature known as Fashion Friday.
Thank you for being here!
