Apartments for London
KLH Sustainability are supporting Apartments for London (AfL), in executing their ambitious development goal to deliver 100% affordable housing developments that do not sacrifice quality. Through ongoing engagement beginning at feasibility stage, KLH Sustainability has influenced key project-wide decisions such as the pursuit of Home Quality Mark and Passivhaus standard. As a result, all developments are targeting HQM 2-stars, with 3-stars targeted on a site-by-site basis, and Passivhaus pursued where deemed feasible.
In order to achieve the necessary cost efficiencies, modular units will be manufactured in China. We are working closely with the supply chain to ensure ethical trading and sustainability standards are complied with and we are exploring ways in which the developments can offset the embodied carbon of transportation of the units from China.
