Page Text: Close Shivangi Mariam Raj ​Shivangi Mariam Raj is a translator and independent researcher from Delhi, India. Her essays, reportage, and poetry have appeared across newspapers, zines, magazines, and pamphlets published in India, Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Nepal. Her current research draws upon sociolinguistics and ethnography to trace brahminical violence embedded in the Hindi language and its normalization in majoritarian routines and rituals in India. In 2013, she w​​as awarded the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Grant for her documentation of the spatial and material dimensions of oral literature in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Uttarakhand, India. She is a university drop-out and was previously working with Oxford University Press.​ She is now serving as the Head of Communications at The Funambulist. Magazine
