Page Text: Debate Drought London’s future rainfall is expected to become more seasonal, with more winter rain (up to 26 per cent more by 2080s) and less in summer (up to 29 per cent less by 2080s). This means storing water, at every level from major reservoirs to water butts in the garden, becomes more important. The threat of future water shortage is a serious issues for London as demand increases, due to increasing population, per capita consumption and higher temperatures, while climate change will increase the seasonality of water supply. Securing sustainable water sources, reducing losses and improving the city’s domestic and commercial water efficiency are essential to adapting London to climate change.
