Duck Library Program
Duck Libraries are mini libraries that contain brand new books for pre-school aged children. They are supplied to important community centres such as Hospitals, Refugee centres, and Pre-schools around Australia.
This program ensures very young children are given vital early exposure to books at a critical stage of development. Children are encouraged to borrow the books to read with their parents or carers and for pre-schools to use in their literacy programs. Each library contains 60 brand-new age appropriate books in a fully themed bookcase, and is supplemented with an additional supply of 15 new books in the second year. The feedback we receive about our Duck Libraries is truly humbling and shows the impact this program has within the communities they support;
“Having new resources gives the community a sense of worth and acknowledgement. It shows them that they are worthy & trusted to have these resources available to them.” Program Coordinator, Hackham West Community Centre, 2018.
