Page Text: Duck Library Program
We support priority primary schools, community centres, refugee centres, hospitals and other important community groups where a need for books has been identified. We partner with Dymocks stores, Corporates, other Non-Profits, Grant Bodies and philanthropists to raise funds to support our work.

We provide brand new books to restock primary school libraries, community centres, hospitals, classrooms and provide books for children to take home and cherish. Many of the children we support have little or access to books of their own. A lack of resources at school, no local library or poorly stocked local libraries combined with financial challenges at home, mean good books are often not available.
We only provide brand new books, usually chosen by the children and educational professionals themselves. Book choice is important because children, just like adults, want to read what interests them. Research has shown that children are more likely to read books that interest them and develop a life long love of reading as a result.
Regular access to good books is an important first step towards improving literacy outcomes.
To date, we have provided over 209,000 books to over 152,000 children in more than 650 locations around Australia. In the 2021 financial year alone we provided over $1M worth of brand new books - and the outcomes are extraordinary. As the librarian at Cherbourg State School told us after they received a Library Regeneration Program in 2019:
“…Most of our students do not have books at home, and we are unable to provide home-readers due to our
limited assets…I know the students and families are very grateful to have a first-class school library. I see some parents come in and just stare at the books. Some parents are illiterate themselves having not had the chance to go to school. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts…”
