Our Story
We are an independent, Australia-wide charity who provide brand new books to children in priority locations around Australia. We do this because children who are exposed to good books and read regularly have better educational outcomes and lead healthier and happier lives.
Despite some improvements, literacy levels in Australia remain of concern, particularly amongst the most vulnerable groups in society.
We support children around Australia who are unable to access good books regularly. To date, we have been able to provide over 209,000 books to over 152,000 children in more than 650 locations around Australia. Most recently we have provided over $200,000 worth of brand new books, puzzles and games to support vulnerable children impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our mission is simple - to promote a love of reading and improve literacy outcomes for children in Australia. We believe all children should have access to good books, regardless of their circumstances.
The Dymocks store network support many of our fundraising initiatives and often support schools in their local area. Dymocks staff are also often involved in corporate volunteering and contribute to our payroll giving program. We have our own Board and Executive team and are responsible for the majority of our fundraising revenues.
