Page Text: What is that, you may ask.
Developmental editing refers to editing that aims to improve the
content and structure of a manuscript. It might be a major
rearranging of plot structure. Most books go through at least one
Developmental edit-possibly merging characters, eliminating
content that does not inform the story or theme. Most specifically,
an experienced reader and writer like myself uses their instinct
and knowledge of both to make your book or other content
readable and publishable.
No matter what kind of help you need, you should know that it's one of my
highest goals to maintain and enhance your voice and the integrity of your
story. I am a collaborative editor.
Publication Assistance
Once your project is complete, you may want help finding and
approaching an agent or publisher. I can help you find the right agent,
help with your query letter, synopsis, and your elevator pitch. Many
writers (and I've made this mistake too) put their work out there too
soon. Revision, revision, revision.
Writing is not an easy task. Writing a book is like climbing Mt. Everest.
Once you've finished several drafts, my advice is to sleep on it for a
week or two. You'll be surprised at how many changes you want to
make then. I read somewhere recently where writing a book is like
filling a swimming pool with tea cups of water. Beginner or
professional, I'd love to be part of your team.
