Page Text: Search for: Role Playing On Myst Online: Uru Live (again!), Role Playing is done in a slightly different way than many other RP environments. This page will explain how RP is done on MOULa with links to other MOULa Player sites and MOULa support websites. In an effort to return to the original vision of the creators of Myst Online: Uru Live, Role Play is being re-introduced to the server. Since MOULa has been around for over 20 years, this process is slow but progressing. Right now the Beneath forums is the place to go to see what kinds of plots that are currently going on. Back in the original versions of the server, Cyan introduced plots and characters that were created by the company with characters who were played by actors. The current version of the server is wanting to return to this kind of Role Play and story, with characters played by volunteer actors from the playerbase and MOULa community. Any player can volunteer to be involved with the plotlines running on the server, and the place to discuss that is the OpenUru Discord . Role playing online and off is done in a variety of ways. There are some guidelines that are important to me when I interact IC with other Player Characters. These have been developed over time and are the the guidelines I adhere to myself and ask that others who interact with my characters IC do the same. At the current time the information listed here should not be considered ‘official’ etiquette for MOULa. Even so, they are a good set of guidelines for players in the Cavern. Dos and Don’ts Familiarize yourself with the Theme of the setting. In this case, the Myst/Uru/D’ni Universe. Feel free to ask questions. Pagechat and OOC is your friend! (Pagechat: /p name (message)) Read. Read posted signs, journals and Imager messages. This is a good way for others to let you know what’s going on in areas of the server. Join the CyanChat and OpenUru Discord channels as well as the Beneath Forums. These are the best ways to stay in touch with the folks who work on the server as well as the people playing. Support. Either donation of money or time helps out. Be friendly OOC, to Players, Actors and Devs. Remember, what happens IC stays IC. Familiarize yourself with the server’s Emotes and / commands. It makes IC interaction a lot more fun! Use Page and OOC chat to discuss resolution of IC conflicts. If a solution can’t be worked out, don’t be afraid to retcon the scene. Consider playing through the Uru content. This gives you a better idea of the theme and story as well as gives you special reward clothing and the ability to use Marker Games, which sometimes are used in plots and RP. Don’t: React for other IC characters. Let them react to your character. (Sometimes called ‘ godmodding ‘.) Create crossover characters or characters that could break the theme . If you’d like to play a D’ni, check with the Lore-Team first. Carry over IC conflicts into OOC space. Be afraid to chat with experienced players and the Lore-Team if you have an idea for a character or story.
