Page Text: Associate professor, Hussman School of Journalism and Media, UNC-Chapel Hill home My name is Deen Freelon, and this is my personal website. I’m a professor in a journalism school , though I’m not a journalist–I’m an empirical researcher of political communication who focuses on digital politics. Lately I’ve been interested in mis/disinformation, conspiracy theories, hyperpartisan content, ideological asymmetry, identity politics, and personalized information environments. As a member of the computational social science community, I write lots of code for data analysis (mostly in R and Python), and I sometimes release some of it on an open-source basis. The site’s main menu is on your right. I don’t update the blog much, but I’m trying to keep at least the research components of the site up to date. 12/9/2020
