Page Text: / Terms of use Terms of use The word “Division” as used here and throughout these pages applies to AEJMC Divisions, Interest Groups, Commissions, and any other AEJMC subgroup that uses the AEJMC Network. The popular appeal of WordPress also makes it an attractive target for hackers, spammers and a variety of shady characters who weave webs of darkness and deception across the Internet. Because of that, AEJMC requires that all members of the AEJMC Network shared hosting space  follow a few rules. HOSTING: AEJMC arranges the shared hosting environment as a service; Divisions have the responsibility to maintain all their own site content, menu structures, and theme appearances according to these terms. SECURITY: AEJMC will install and maintain a suite of security plug-ins. Divisions must keep these active at all times. Violation will result in removal of the division website. PRIVILEGES: Every Division site should have someone with Editor privileges . Once a site is set up, an Editor – who has absolute control over content – can complete all maintenance tasks. Administrative privileges may be granted for a limited period of time to one person per division after a testing and interview process. Admin privileges are to be granted only by the AEJMC web team and NOT by a Division webmaster with admin privileges to other members of a division.  Administrative privileges are granted on a temporary basis for performing specific tasks, under an additional Administrator Agreement . MEDIA LAW: Individual Divisions are responsible for seeing that content in their site conforms to all U.S. law pertaining to the media, including laws governing intellectual property, libel, privacy, obscenity, indecency, and emotional distress. Breeches of media and communication law may result in removal from the site as well individual exposure to any resulting litigation. UGRADES: Periodic WordPress upgrades (and updates for plug-ins and themes where possible) will be installed automatically across the entire AEJMC Network – without any notice to members of the network.  It is each division’s responsibility to maintain current versions of any premium themes the Division may have purchased. BACKUPS: Each Division is responsible for its own backups. The only authorized backup utility is WordPress’s built in “Export” feature. Note: Your media files will not be part of the backup. Each Division must maintain its own media files backups. Updates to WordPress, plugins, or themes always run the risk of breaking individual sites; you should have a regular backup routine. REAL NAMES: Every user profile within a Division site must contain the person’s real name and e-mail address. Generic organizational accounts divorced from a specific responsible individual are not permitted. CUSTOMIZING: Any additional plugins or themes must be approved by the AEJMC Web team. COMMENTS: If your Division site has comments enabled, the increased security risk demands that the Division site webmaster pass a test on managing comments. AEJMC retains the right to disable or eliminate any network site for practices placing the network or other Division sites within the network at risk of security breaches. «– WordPress Overview | User Privilege Levels –» AEJMC Network "AEJMC Network" is the name given to the server space shared by official bodies of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
