Friends of Alki Neighborhood
Friends of Alki Neighborhoods (FANS of Alki) is dedicated to working to improve the SAFETY, LIVABILITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY of our connected neighborhoods surrounding Alki Beach.
Alki residents Anni Lanigan, Mollie Means, and Steve Pumphrey, are currently serving on this committee.
In the spring of 2021, FAN conducted a poll, and respondents identified the following problems on Alki:
Car racing including mufflers and noise
Lack of SPD presence or other security patrol
Fire issues
Unclear signage along the waterfront (e.g., which pathways pedestrians, runners, bicycles, scooters should be)
Garbage and trash
Fireworks (often late at night)
Off-leash dogs
FAN has been authorized to speak on behalf of the Alki Community Council when contacting Parks and Recreation, Seattle Police Department, Seattle Department of Transportation, and other agencies as they see fit.
