Teacher Resources
The Heritage Education Trunk Kits are a collection of authentic and reproduction artifacts, documents, maps, photographs, and carefully developed lesson plans and activities. These kits have been digitized through a grant from 4Culture/ King County Lodging Tax Fund.
Individual grade lesson plans are available, with EALR designations, lesson supply list, and time requirements.
These items relate to the landing of the pioneers on Alki Point and their interaction with the local Native Americans. A reader’s theater script and an elementary play, which chronicle the changing lifestyles for both the Indians and the settlers, is one of the features of this educational resource. Hands-on activities and lively historical anecdotes bring history to life for students. Kits rent for $30 for a two week period, $20 for one week. Call (206) 938-5293 to schedule or e-mail the Log House Museum at museum@loghousemuseum.org .
