We at Houseplant Addicts are here today to stand up and say that we support the Black Lives Matter movement. It is unacceptable that systemic racism continues in this day and age to plague our communities and we will no longer sit idly by and allow this to continue. Black Americans and the BIPOC community have faced fathomless amounts of pain and trauma as a result of ongoing prejudice and police brutality. They continue to be unsafe from microaggressions, harassment, violence and racism. This injustice must end. Our moderator and admin team stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and the fight to annihilate systemic racism and injustices within the United States. We as a society have to do better, do more, hear their voices, say their names and we must change. Hear us now… Black voices, experiences, pain and lives matter. The brutalization and discrimination by police of BIPOC must stop. We stand united in our belief that Black lives matter more than property. Systemic white supremacy touches every aspect of life in America, and it is up to us to do the work of dismantling it. We will not tolerate racism in any groups in the Houseplant Addicts Network . This is a human rights issue, this is not a political opinion and it is not up for debate. This is about Black people having the right to feel safe in their own home , in their own neighborhoods, in public and cyber spaces. Please stop and consider that Black and other BIPOC members cannot walk away from racism, this is something they encounter every single day. Houseplant Addicts – and every single one of our members – values kindness, compassion and empathy above all else. We stand strongly with the Black Lives Matter movement. As our Black group members and local communities fight for equality and justice, deflecting the issue to other problems is considered silencing and dismissive of their struggles and will not be tolerated here. There will be no warnings, you will be removed and/or banned without notice to you. To our Black community members and other BIPOC… We hear you. We see you. We stand beside you . And while words can serve as a form of comfort, it is action that makes a difference. We understand that we will never understand your struggle but we stand with you. It will take daily dedication from all of us to truly bring about this societal change. Please know we are fully committed to doing our part in making this a reality. Our network is a safe space and will stand up and do what we can alongside our BIPOC members even when it’s uncomfortable – especially when it is uncomfortable. A final word… Lastly, we want to be very clear about one thing: If you are a member of our groups who responds to “Black Lives Matter” with “All Lives Matter,” we urge you to stop, listen, educate yourself and understand why that is problematic . Black Lives are in danger every single day and we cannot say that all lives truly matter until we have taken a stand against the injustices against the Black and BIPOC community. If you are not willing to stop and listen, the Houseplant Addicts Network is not the place for you. Resources
