Restrict to photos from the general (non-railway) collection.
Search optimised for place names. This search embraces the first 20 characters in the image caption. In nearly all cases this will find the place depicted in the image.
How search functions
The search function is case insensitive and will search for the values you enter within the photo title. The date the photo was taken is not part of the photo title. To search by date please use the menu link Photos by Date . Included at the start of the photo title is a unique file number. Thus searching for engine numbers, for example, will return photos where the file number matches the engine number, thus resulting in a large number of photos returned. To avoid this please add a spacebar to the begining and end of the number searched. This is essential if searching for single or double digit numbers.
It is not possible to search for photos for a particular country and state only - the search results will be too large.
Understanding how Weston has described each photo will aid the user in finding the desired photo. For example:
