for productivity-enhancing infrastructure and capital works, estimated to support around
11,700 jobs in this region.

for the Metro North, Metro South and Children’s Health Hospitals and Health Services.
$309.6M for Education
to maintain, improve and upgrade schools in Brisbane and Redlands.
Brisbane and Redlands will also benefit from:
$122.3M for Social housing
in 2021-22 to expand and improve social housing in Brisbane and Redlands.
$34M for Homelessness Services
in 2021-22 to deliver specialist homelessness services in Brisbane and Redlands.
$15M for Skilling Queenslanders for Work
in 2021-22 to fund more training opportunities and increase workforce participation in Brisbane and Redlands.

Payroll Tax Relief
4,458 employers in Brisbane & Redlands received $212 million in payroll tax refunds, holidays or waivers to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on businesses.

Building Brisbane South State Secondary College
The new Brisbane South State Secondary College in Dutton Park is being delivered by the Queensland Government’s Building Future Schools (BFS) program.
Construction of the new school commenced in November 2019 and will continue through until late 2021, supporting more than 450 local jobs. The new school welcomed its first intake of Year 7 students in Term 1, 2021 and will continue to grow each year until 2026. The school features specialised facilities for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM), communication, humanities and social sciences. These facilities surround a ‘learning oasis’ at the heart of the campus, which provides outdoor and green space for learning and interaction.
The $2.6 billion BFS program is delivering new state schools in Queensland’s fastest growing communities to provide new and innovative education facilities for families and children within their local area.
Over $500M for station upgrades
The Queensland Government’s half-a-billion-dollar investment in its train station accessibility program is making public transport more accessible across South East Queensland, while estimated to support approximately 250 jobs.
Across the Brisbane and Redlands region, Albion, Auchenflower, Cannon Hill, Buranda, Banyo, Wooloowin, Morningside and Lindum stations are at various stages from planning and design through to construction.
Accessibility upgrades may include new or improved pedestrian footbridges, lifts, and platform raising. Other project features include accessible station facilities such as toilets, new hearing aid loops, tactile ground surface indicators, improved station finishes, customer information screens, upgraded security, lighting and station signage.
To ensure accessibility for all Queenslanders, the government is seeking expert advice from the new independent Queensland Accessible Transport Advisory Council which provides a voice for those with vision, hearing, physical or cognitive impairments as well as older people, parents with prams and youth groups.
Tax relief package
The government provided significant tax relief to support Queensland businesses, landlords, tenants, pubs and clubs, including:
payroll tax refunds, waivers and deferrals for eligible businesses, targeted at small to medium businesses
a payroll tax exemption for wages subsidised by the JobKeeper payment
land tax rebates, waivers and deferrals for eligible taxpayers.
An estimated 2,820 employers in Brisbane and Redlands will also benefit in 2021-22 from the higher payroll tax threshold.
Ten new schools
The 2021-22 Budget includes $913.7 million for 10 new schools to open in 2023 and 2024, as part of the Building Future Schools Program.
2023 – primary schools in Yarrabilba, Ripley and the Augustine Heights/Redbank Plains area, and a secondary school in Palmview
2024 – primary schools in Redland Bay, Bellbird Park and the Logan Reserve/Crestmead/Park Ridge area, and secondary schools in Springfield and the Collingwood Park/Redbank Plains and Logan Reserve/Park Ridge areas.
