Page Text: To be an institution of excellence that provides quality education, rigorous training, and is a catalyst for creative expression in the performing arts. A society that cherishes, respects, and encourages creative expression through the arts, especially the performing arts. The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) is Pakistan's foremost performing arts organization, presenting world-class theatre and music programming and the country's only national arts academy educating students in theatre and music. President Emeritus Message At the beginning of the year, NAPA was ready to capitalize on the success of 2019 with an impressive roster of shows and performances planned to highlight the talent of our students. We had ambitious plans to celebrate 15 years of NAPA, unaware of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic. Our schedule of performances was cut short in March and our teaching and performance activities had to be moved online. As our international performers rushed to reach the airports before the borders were closed, we were left to deal with the ramifications of the pandemic and its impact on our theatrical performances and academic schedule. As the necessary imposed lockdown led to the closure of all physical venues, we turned to the digital world and created a limited schedule of online classes for our students. As expected, teaching drama and music online proved to be challenging and somewhat limiting. With that said, our faculty and students took the unique circumstances in their stride and kept their spirits alive as they slowly adjusted to the changed environment. Once the lockdown was lifted, we managed to hold normal classes from November onwards. With the unforeseen closure of theatrical activity, NAPA chose to carry out its work with our promising outreach efforts. We continued to offer access to the performing arts to local universities and communities via remote classes and digital performances. Despite the tough year, I can proudly say that we were able to motivate our students to keep pursuing creative activities. Today, NAPA is inarguably an invaluable asset to our country’s multi-faceted culture. I must say that we could not have achieved this stature without constant encouragement of our board of directors and generous patrons and supporters. I would like to take this moment to express my gratitude to our students, committed faculty, unswerving staff, and our steadfast and loyal friends and supporters who helped us power through a difficult year.
