Page Text: Big Dams 61,950,038 = all our TV, local screenings & cinema viewers added up. Some accurate - eg TV companies' official figures - and lots guesstimates - eg punters turning up to pub screening in Krakow. more » Mailing List Submitted by franny on 7 August 2010 - 8:46am Call us old-fashioned, but here at Spanner HQ our email updates are still our favourite means of communication with one's people. Frankly, we're just too long-winded to embrace our Twitter and Facebook accounts any more than tokenistically. What sort of messages? Chatty. Very chatty. And highly detailed and painfully honest and, so we're told, often very funny. We're going to put the archive up here as soon as Nick can work out how to do it. But in the meantime, you can read the latest message here or some excerpts on the right of this page. How many people are on the list? After studying our How To Be A Proper Grown-Up Business manual, we now understand that this kind of top secret corporate information should never be revealed. But it's more than 25,000 and less than 250,000. We'd love to encourage you to sign up by telling you how often you'll receive messages, but it's a bit more haphazard than that. Basically, Franny writes one whenever she has something interesting to say or the mood to impart strikes her. The highest ever frequency was in the last week before the Global Premiere, when the poor subscribers' inboxes were being visited nearly every day - and the lowest was in summer 2010, when it was down to less than once a month. Convinced?  Join the email list here . Had enough? Unsubscribe  here , by clicking on the link at the bottom of every message or by sending an email to: addtolist@ageofstupid.net with UNSUBSCRIBE in the mailing list and we'll take you off manually. PS. Sorry, but you can't post to the list, as it would be utterly annoying for the subscribers to receive random stuff. Here's a bit of a flavour of the email messages, which cover Age of Stupid, 10:10, McLibel, Drowned Out, half-arsed ideas for new projects and all sorts of random things along the way, like buying a 747 and getting rescued by Boris Johnson: >>   Hello... they said meekly, emerging blinking from under a large pile of rolled up posters in a corner of a big empty office on 34th Street, New York New York. This has been the hardest-ever mailing list message to write.... because in many ways the Global Premiere was a total triumph (see below) and so many people worked so hard and pulled off so many astounding feats (also see below), that it seems churlish to be anything over than overjoyed.... But for Lizzie and me, the whole thing was a bit of a carcrash and we are still suffering from PTPD (post traumatic premiere disorder). >> Seen the stories in the news about the 747 which survived flying through volcanic ash in the 80s? That's our plane! You remember, the one we bought last year and then chopped up and recycled in to the must-wear fashion-icon of 2010. Fashion icon my arse? Well, OK magazine says it is (see pic attached) so it must be true. And if you're feeling sheepish (in the fashion sense), you can now buy the tags on the 10:10 website. Though wearing one means you're cutting your emissions by 10%, so shop carefully. >> The last 100 or so Stupid screenings have been enormously frustrating as I've been forced to answer the inevitable "But what can we do?" question with the most unsatisfying generalities. Oh how it hurts, seeing the disappointment on all those faces, whilst knowing we have the killer - or perhaps opposite of killer - answer up our sleeves.  We were going to launch in July, as I think I may have mentioned, but then Michael Jackson's headline-hogging put a stop to that. Really. That Conrad Murray has a lot to answer for.
