At Uptown Messenger, we are strongly committed to serving our readers through reporting on issues of public interest, but we need your support to do so.
If you want to see our approach to neighborhood-based reporting continue and grow in New Orleans, please consider supporting us financially. Many of you have written to say how much you appreciate our on-scene reporting of neighborhood street crime, our close coverage of your children’s charter schools or our elected officials, our regular attendance at neighborhood meetings and our promotion of events in the Uptown area. This reporting is time-consuming, however, and to attract strong journalists requires competitive compensation.
A monthly “subscription” is most helpful, as it gives us the stability to plan coverage in the future, but any one-time donation will be greatly appreciated as well.

Your contributions will primarily help pay our reporters, by far the biggest expense of any online news outfit. It will also help us defray the rising costs of our web hosting and monthly fees for the software that helps us bring you the news.
When you subscribe or donate, you’ll be asked if we can publicly list your name among our supporters. We’re proud of the support we receive on a daily basis, and listing our contributors is one way to thank you.

Another way to support our work is to share it. If you read a story of interest, please post it your Facebook page, your Twitter account, or email it to your friends. The more readership our articles have, the stronger the site is, in terms of being able to get answers on your behalf, in generating discussion about important community issues, and in exposure for our advertisers. Further, while we make decisions about coverage based on the public interest, we certainly value our readers’ opinions, and if a particular topic draws strong interest from our readers, we’ll try to increase our coverage of it.
