Page Text: PRINTABLES ABOUT Hi!  I’m, Doreen – The face behind Hymnsandverses.com.   I love Diet Coke, family, vintage treasures, Jesus, old movie musicals, and all things home .  .  but definitely not in that order! Hymns and Verses, the blog, began in 2012 when I was at a crossroads in my career.  My love for home decor, and the discovery of decorating and DIY blogs, propelled me to start my own website:  Hymns and Verses:  Inspiration for your home and life.  I live in beautiful  Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with my husband, Mark. We live in the country and love it!  Our yard extends to farm fields “where the corn is as high as an elephant’s eye!”  Our home is small, but I truly believe the saying: Love Grows Best in Little Houses With fewer walls to separate where you eat and sleep So close together, you can’t help but communicate If we had more room between us, think of all we’d miss Love grows best in little houses – Just like this! I’m the Mom to three boys – Josh, Caleb, and Seth and couldn’t be prouder of them!  In 2014, we welcomed Sarah into our family when she married our oldest, Josh.   They are expecting their first baby (our first grandbaby) in December of this year!  It’s going to be a happy Christmas at our house! In the fall of 2019,  our middle son, Caleb, married his sweetheart, Elizabeth! When the boys were little, they were a real handful!  And in the teen years, our home was always full of loud boys and fun times!   But, between carpooling to sports games and practices, music lessons, and school events – there wasn’t much time to do major home renovations!   Can you relate? Now, Mark and I are new empty nesters!   And we are taking on those DIY and renovation projects, both large and small, to update and add character to our home.  My favorite space in our home is the screened-in porch!  I love to decorate this space seasonally! hymns and verses In Print I’m honored to have had our home featured in print by Country Sampler Magazine’s Special Christmas Issue, Country Woman Magazine, and This Old House Magazine.  My spaces and projects have also been featured on many online sites including Apartment Therapy Houzz, Country Living, and Better Homes and Gardens, to name a few. At hymnsandverses.com you’ll find decor that mixes vintage finds with new to create a fresh and unique style.  I’m passionate about learning and creating, and I love to share new skills I learn and projects that I complete with my readers.  In addition to home decor and DIY projects, I also share gardening tips and outdoor spaces, recipes from my kitchen, and printable designs that I create for my readers.   Here are some posts that reflect my decorating style and projects that I’ve shared here at Hymns and Verses – you can click each photo to view the full blog post.
