Page Text: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Eligible Period All applicants must have commercially released the entered work between 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2021. Eligible Applicant All applicants must have at least 50% of their band members residing in South Australia or they must identify and promote themselves as being South Australian. All applicants should be registered with APRA AMCOS. Eligible Material All entered works must be original compositions. Particulars: People’s Choice Awards: the work entered must be a singular song. Only one song can be entered per artist. Please note the ‘People’s Choice’ Award is subject to public voting and not industry voted. Any Artist or Band that engages in a negative campaign or incites hate speech or harassment to gain votes will be disqualified. Any obvious data corruption to gain votes will also be disqualified. Best Solo Artist and Best Group: the work entered must contain at least 2 original different tracks. Best Song: the work entered must be a singular song and will be the selected track for the award. Best Release: the work entered must be an official release, commercially recognised as either an EP or Album, the work entered must be an official release, commercially recognised as either an EP or Album, with 3 or more songs. Best New Artist: the work entered must be the first ever single release or a single release lifted from the artist’s first ever EP/album. Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist: the applicant must have been active during the eligible period and have at least 50% of its members identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Best Major Festival/Event (over 1,000 attendees): The event must have taken place during the eligible period. The presenter / promoter is either South Australian based OR must be promoting shows with a minimum involvement of 10% South Australian Music. Best Small Festival / Event (under 1,000 attendees): the event must have taken place during the eligible period and must contain a line-up of at least 10% South Australian music. The presenter / promoter is either South Australian based OR must be promoting shows with a minimum involvement of 10% South Australian Music. Best Manager: the manager must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards and must have been active during the eligible period and have a current management contract in place. Best Music Venue: the venue must be located in South Australia and offer predominately live original music for its entertainment. Best Studio: the studio must be located in South Australia and primarily used for recording music. Best Studio Engineer / Producer: the engineer or producer must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards. Only those working in a studio environment either engineering or producing music are considered eligible. Best Live Technician: the technician must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards. For the purpose of this award, the term technician refers to professionals working in the areas of sound, lighting, stage, instrument and backline. Only those working in the live sector are considered eligible. Best Cover Art: the designer/artist/photographer must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards, but the musical artist can be from anywhere in the world. Best Music Video: the director must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards, but the musical artist can be from anywhere in the world. Best Innovation Award: the applicant must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards and the innovation must have been publicly recognised in the eligibility period. Innovation ideas can include but are not limited to native live streaming from a single source, media outlets, new technology and supportive services for original music. Best Music Educator: the applicant must have been residing in South Australia within the eligible date period for the 2021 SAM Awards and must be actively teaching within the music education sector in the eligibility period. Music Educators includes lecturers, secondary education teachers and instrumental teachers.
