Choosing a Driver's Education School
Become a driver is one of the biggest steps that everyone takes in their lives. Being a driver offers many freedoms but comes with many responsibilities. Choosing the right driving school can make a big difference.
You get what you pay for. A great motto but choosing the more expensive schools doesn't mean the best instructors. Ads on Craig's List and similar sites to get the cheapest instructor that can pass the testing to become an instructor may be acceptable to other schools, but that does not work for Shield Driving Academy.
Our Police Officer involved training means that our classes aren't just driven by what's written in a training book. Police officers receive specialized training in traffic laws, accident investigation and more, even before they spend a day on duty. Several of our instructors have over 20 years as police officers and our lead instructor has 34 years of experience. We are able to take this experience and provide a safety based course that uses situational instruction to involve the students into thinking about more than just red means stop and green means go.
Everyone in our schools wants new drivers to be safe and get the best driver's education possible. We won't pass a student unless they earn it. Our testing examiners don't know if they are testing one of our students. We expect every student that graduates from our school will be as prepared as possible to obtain their license and be a safe, new driver!

Teen Drivers
Giving them the keys for the first time
So, it's finally time to hand over the keys to your teenager and let them behind the wheel - excitement, freedom, concerns, freaked out. We understand all the you are going through and are prepared to help you and your teen survive driver's ed. We work hand in hand with you to prepare your teen with practical, real-world experience from our well trained instructors - many of whom are retired officers. What better way to learn then from the very people that deal with traffic and all it's challenges today.
$549.00 - WA Teen Drivers Safety Education & Certification
(Basic Package)
• Classroom instruction and behind the wheel training to meet state basic requirements
• 30 hours in class
• 4 hours state of the art driving simulation
• 5 hours of driving with an instructor
• 5 hours of driving observation
Extra drive sessions can be prepurchased at $60 each ($89 after 1st day of class)
All classes require minimum of 10 students
Student must be 15 and attend the first day of class (state requirement)

Ideal for refresher for our graduates to come back and take before taking the Skills (drive) test or if you just want to brush up on your skills.
$89.00 - Private Drive Lessons
Client will work one-on-one with an instructor in our vehicle. Clients can customize private drives to meet their goals. Discounts for 4 or 6 drive packages.
$109.00 - Downtown Seattle Drive
Get a 1 hour session driving in downtown Seattle. Get some practical training and practice with the challenges of driving in heavy downtown traffic (available on weekends - call for availability)
$109.00 - Driving Assessment
30 minute personal one-on-one session with an instructor who will gauge the student's driving abilities. In this educational experience, the instructor will give feedback on breaking bad habits, ideas on how to adapt to any physical limitations and assess safety concerns.
We also offer a 1 hour assessment and written report for $159.00
$139.00 - Emergency Vehicle Procedures
90 minute session designed to teach a student how to handle emergencies that may happen in your day to day driving. Call for more details.
