Page Text: Axuda Artigo destacado A historia da moeda do Tíbet remóntase á Antigüidade, cando esta rexión asiática non realizaba aínda as súas propias cuñaxes . Utilizábanse ás veces moedas doutros territorios, aínda que o troco era unha práctica máis común, o ouro constituía un medio de intercambio e as cunchas e as doas de pedra utilizábanse para as transaccións máis pequenas. A partir do século XVII comezou a utilizarse a moeda dun xeito máis extenso; tratábase de moedas de prata procedentes do Nepal . E entre 1763 e 1785 cuñáronse as primeiras moedas de prata tibetanas. Pouco despois, en 1792 , producíronse as primeiras emisións masivas, baixo a autoridade mixta tibetano- chinesa , con lendas en ambas as linguas , ata que en 1840 xurdiu a moeda xenuinamente tibetana, que se mantivo ata 1954 , coa única excepción de dous breves períodos de emisións sino-tibetanas . En 1910 , o Goberno tibetano comezou a producir unha ampla variedade de moedas de prata e de cobre con diferentes valores faciais, e entre 1918 e 1921 só se cuñaron moedas de ouro. Pola súa banda, os primeiros billetes apareceron en 1913 . Entre 1955 e 1959 non se cuñou moeda no Tíbet, aínda que se mantiña a impresión de billetes, e nese último todo o diñeiro foi substituído gradualmente polo iuan renmimbi , a moeda da República Popular da China .
