Page Text: Nine Keys – a key signature game
Hi! I’m Susan Paradis and I have been a music teacher for most of my life. I started as a little girl teaching my friends how to play duets and carry a tune. My teen and university years were immersed in music and when I graduated I reached my goal of becoming a children’s music teacher. I loved teaching children and I wanted them to appreciate music as much as I always have. But I found that some music concepts are not easy for children to learn.
So I went to graduate school and studied more about how children learn music. I started designing age appropriate activities that engage and motivate children so they can’t wait for their next lesson. Music and music concepts don’t come easily to all children but I’ve always thought there is a way to reach everyone who wants to learn. There is no “one way” to teach piano so I believe teachers need to be open to do what it takes to engage a student.
My mission it to provide music education resources designed to meet the needs of teachers who want appropriate supplemental activities that explain concepts in a child-centered way. Compositions are written to appeal to students. Special consideration is taken to make the material appealing to students and easy to understand. The printable games, worksheets, flash cards, educational music, and other items are well thought out and will reinforce piano methods in use today.
