Page Text: FAQ Q. Is this course appropriate for new piano teachers or for experienced piano teachers? The answer is YES! Excellence In Piano Teaching is a great crash course for both new-ish piano teachers as well as seasoned piano teachers. It is perfect for anyone seeking interactive guidance for bringing their piano teaching to the next level. Q. How much time do I need to invest to take this course? Excellence In Piano Teaching consists of six modules, released one-at-a-time over six weeks. Each week, you'll read and respond to the sub-lessons and your fellow participants' responses. On Fridays, we'll hold live videochat discussions, too (video replays available afterwards). I recommend planning to spend four to five hours per week on the course, to gain the most from the material. As with most things in life, the more time you invest, the more benefit you'll reap! Q. What if I plan to be out-of-town during the course? If you're out-of-town, you can certainly continue participating in the course as you are able and then play catch-up when you return. However, I must caution you that the pace of the course is rapid and there's lots of great material to work through. If you feel that being out-of-town might cause you to get behind, perhaps you will want to consider registering for a later session instead. I want you to be able to make the most of our time together! That said, you will always have lifetime access to the course material after it's over. Q. Will I need to purchase any books? No, there are no required books. However, I do have some recommendations for books you might consider adding to your library and referencing during the course. Q. What technology will I need? When you enroll in the course, you will create a username and password for logging into the course. Because the course is entirely online, you will need access to a computer or tablet and consistent, reliable internet access. To participate in the live videochats, you will need either a computer with webcam, a tablet, or a smart phone. Q. Why is registration limited to small groups of teachers? As much as possible, I want this course to feel like an in-person group class — except better. Small class sizes allow me to get-to-know each person who takes the course and work together closely as they make their way through the material. I enjoy being able to provide feedback on the discussion prompts/projects and have comfortable small-group discussions. So, for those reasons, each offering of this course is open to the first 25 teachers who register for each session. WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING "Joy Morin's pedagogy course is an excellent learning tool for new piano teachers or teachers wanting to refresh their pedagogy knowledge."     - PIANO TEACHER IN CANADA © Joy Morin.
