I am a proud 10th grader attending Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA. As an 8th grader, I attended Gompers Preparatory Academy in San Diego, CA. While walking home one day, I asked myself, “Why can’t everyone live in nice affordable homes, including me?” That began my journey to become an architect. I am passionate about architecture and dream to own my own architecture firm where I will design beautiful, affordable, and sustainable homes. I’ve taken six architectural courses at Mesa Community College as part of an Architectural Technician Degree. I’m grateful to have been an intern at McGee Sharon Architects where I used my REVIT and AUTOCAD skills. I aspire to attend UC Berkeley or Cornell University where I will major in Architecture and Urban Design. Last year I was presented an award by the San Diego Mayor, City Council, and Board of Supervisors for my efforts in promoting a walk-up vaccination clinic for my community. As a first-generation, low-income student, I hope to inspire others to get involved in their communities and break barriers for those who are raised in low socioeconomic areas. I want to be an example that by dreaming big, working hard, and giving back, one can truly make a difference. In my free time, I enjoy being active, including fishing, dancing, soccer, and exploring new places.
