Grassland Poultry is an authorised grower of Sommerlad Heritage Chickens. This award-winning breed is the result of extensive development of heritage genetics. These birds will actively forage and are well-equipped to flourish in Australian conditions. Grassland Poultry is ‘slow-grown’. The result is a better outcome for both our birds and our customers. Healthy, happy birds don’t need antibiotics or chemicals. Allowing these active birds to grow at a natural rate, gives them strong bones, healthy organs and ultimately, award-winning flavour. Our farm, ‘Meramie’ is 1500 hectares, much of it is Box Gum grassy woodland, naturally ideal for poultry that like to roam, exercise and forage.
