Page Text: Involuntary Memory About
About
“On this day” is a Facebook app that displays photos, posts, and videos either uploaded by the user or where the user was tagged by someone else. The purpose of this app is to display user’s past memories. The photos, posts, and videos displayed are gathered from the user’s public album dated in the current day and month but in previous years. This app follows automated steps in order to ‘curate’ the user's memories. "Memory, Pervasiveness, and Facebook" is an installation that explores the concept of pervasive memory. This installation tries to mimic the algorithm of "on this day" in order to highlight that, as a clumsy curator of personal memories, it continuously shows a contingent of meaningless, painful or happy memories.
