Welcome to Open Source Cinema! This site is a collaborative website, an application designed to help filmmakers and audiences create together. You can contact the creator, Brett Gaylor, at brett@eyesteelfilm.com.
Building off the success of the open source documentary Rip! A Remix Manifesto, we’ve gathered a suite of powerful tools and given them a structure that facilitates simple but powerful collaboration
The site is organized by:
PROJECTS.
A listing of collaborative films that are seeking your help. You can join projects to be kept abreast of events, find calls to action, and most importantly, help create REMIXES.
REMIXES
Are editing projects that users can interact with to produce their own unique versions of scenes. Think of remixes as “wiki-films” – they’re produced through continual revision and collaboration.
RECYCLE
Allows filmmakers and users to share media – creating the building blocks for collaborative films. By bookmarking media in the Recyle section, users can populate their remixer with users from a variety of projects.
BLOG
Here project admins can post updates on their projects, drive project members to calls to action, and keep collaborators up to date.
Open Source Cinema is a project of EyeSteelFilm. It was developed with the support of The Bell Fund and the Canadian Film Center.
