Are your kids creative but you don't know where to start to foster their artistic curiosity? Maybe you are looking for something new for them to try on the school holidays? Then our creative art workshops are the answer. Our fun and engaging workshops encourage kids to let their creativity flow with painting, clay, drawing, sculpting, design and construction. The best bit is that no artistic ability is required. And as an added bonus all of our workshops come with a dose of resilience.

“My son (aged 6) is learning to manage worries and anxieties with a local psychologist and when I found out about Strength Heroes I thought it would be a great compliment to the treatment as both my children love art and craft. At first, like most new things, he struggled with being separated from me and verbalising his emotions. However, I have seen his confidence grow. Since he has been attending the workshops he has shown a willingness to do the classes and really enjoys the creative freedom of the activities. It has also created a space to explore and talk. I love the resilience lessons and the worksheets that come home have encouraged us to discuss and explore emotional regulation with the kids like we did not do before"

“I highly recommend this class! My daughter went last term (when the class was in Scarborough) and using the strategies she learnt, she has managed to overcome her fear of most food groups, and now eats spinach, melted cheese, and even tried a piece of fish!! (this is huge as until this time, she only ate 15 foods.....) The skills they learn can be used in so many ways, and because Fiona focuses on a child's strengths, they walk away with a big boost in their confidence. Looking forward to having more grateful children this term :-)”

My youngest A who has never enjoyed any after school activity and usually refuses to participate. He loved it, saying it only seemed 30 min long.

“Through Art, is the perfect place to face your fears. It is challenging and new to most young children. My boys benefitted incredibly from not only the opportunity to open their creative minds - but to be able to identify and articulate their feelings. They left with a greater understanding of what they're feeling as well as a new skill set to change their thinking into a more positive and achievable direction. Thank you Fiona. ”

Thank you Fiona. Jade absolutely loved this class and the unstructured work she was able to do. She is very proud of her pieces and developing self awareness. Thank you again.

“The workshops were something that A would look forward to. She was exposed to different mediums and techniques and this enabled her to explore and create in a supportive and fun environment, whilst also being simultaneously exposed to the benefits of positive thinking. Positive thinking is something that we talk about a lot at home. By having an educator reinforce this message, I have seen an improvement in how A expresses how she feels about herself and her work, her learning. Instead of 'I'm dumb,' she now says 'I tried my hardest,' which as a mum, fills me with pride and admiration for my daughter, as that is what life is, giving it a go and learning from the experience.” Happy Mum

“My Daughter Lily who is 6 has loved her Arty afternoons with Fiona. Its a great platform for kids to learn that mistakes are ok and that it’s part of learning and creating! Fiona comes up with fantastic ideas for the kids to experiment with. Lily wasn’t all that sure at first about starting the classes but we have done two terms and she is keen to keep going. She even described Fiona as one of her favourite teachers (that may have been after their smarty gratitude chart 😉). Would highly recommend Strength heroes for a fun and creative activity for any child.“

“Dear Fiona A really enjoyed her Tuesday art afternoons and the change in her perception of herself is really encouraging. The reason why we started your art class was A was being really hard on herself and it was her teacher, that told me about your workshop as both my husband and I were thrown by just how hard she was being on herself. I realise that it is the combination of her teacher’s efforts, us at home as well as your workshop, that has nurtured A, so that she now is more positive about herself. I do believe though, that with your educator’s background, you have presented resilience in such a way that A has responded and your message has resonated with her. So this is a heartfelt thank you. It was serendipity that guided us to your workshop and A has benefited from being part it. Kind regards,

“S has really turned around her attitude to success. She is, or was, very hard on herself, especially her expectations of herself. She still has high expectations, its just not world shatteringly disappointing if they are not reached or if it takes more effort than she first thought. And she can now leave a job. Where I would regularly come back to class in recess and she would be writing because she was not happy with what she was supposed to write. Now she has more of a smile on her face and is willing to let things go. A, obviously goes in dips and troughs but she is generally okay and will try again. She does trying and use, as you described bargaining – “Can I start again”, “Do I have to do it that way?” Both girls got a can do attitude and not so self critical. More of a balance. They used to be so self critical, so painful which erupted into so may negative emotions. Now she can go, “Hey that was not so great.“

" STRENGTH HEROES 🌈🤩 Ava loved attending a two day @strengthheroes ‘Mistake Maker’ workshop 🥰 She learned what to do when making mistakes, why it’s a normal part of learning and life, and how to be more resilient and confident of her strengths 💪🏼 Thank you so much Fiona! 😘 What are your kids loving these school holidays? "Hi Fiona, I love reading your emails! I also love what you do and the way you do it. O came home with enthusiasm from your workshop. She did great art work and she also absorbed and applied the information provided - BAT and the feelings in the different levels of the house. She gained therapeutic value in her experience with you. I can’t thank you enough. Would love to do more so keep us in touch with your weekend or holiday workshops. Keep up the brilliant work! "

“Having online workshops is (for some) for of a challenge. However as a parent, I got more out of this, as I could see what my daughter was doing and learning - then we could apply strategies better at home.”

"Hi Fiona I have been meaning to contact you to let you know just how much (name withheld) enjoyed your course. I was a little uncertain as to whether she would enjoy it to be honest. She can be a determined little thing and she’s quite fixed on what she does well and what she doesn’t like, especially when it comes to art. When she came home on the first afternoon, she claimed it was the best day of her life. She ran through every part of the course, explaining in detail how the brain works, what to do if you make a mistake and proudly showed us her little clay bear. The second day, she was equally enthusiastic. She’s hung up her profile picture proudly and has the scrap book on her desk. This course was such an unexpected surprise for me and I have been sharing this story far and wide. Little girls often have a really issue being ‘wrong’. For me the pride in being a Mistake Maker is such an empowering concept and I wish I’d learnt it a little earlier in life." Don’t be surprised if your course is inundated next holidays! “

"Z was super chuffed that you requested a photo of her work. Z is perfectionist which can be detrimental to creativity an self esteem when one tries too hard to get things right. Thank you for making her day and realising that everyone can have a go, be creative and enjoy art"

Thank you for making space for T. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I note that it’s all starting to make sense to her- she now recognises when the characters such as Miss Perfect or Angry armadillo are trying to take over the narrative. Thank you for your good and important work.

O gained so much confidence in her abilities. She loved the class and felt fulfilled from making the art and her success. When I picked her up she was beaming with pride and happiness.
