  • There are a number of pages that do not use the description meta tag. Whilst not as important as they once were for Search Engine Optimization the description Meta tag is commonly by search engines to provide a preview snippet about what the page is about. We recommend that you do utilise the description meta tag for each page within your website.
  • There are a number of pages that are using tables for layout instead of CSS / DIVs. A general rule of thumb is to use CSS / DIVs for layout and tables for displaying data in tabular (table) format. Whilst utilising tables for layout is not a show stopper we highly recommend *not* using tables for layout.
  • It appears that the server hosting the website is not utilizing GZIP compression when serving pages. Enabling compression on your server will save both time and bandwidth - we recommend enabling compression on your server.
  • There are a number of pages where we were unable to detect header tags. Traditionally header tags have been used by Search Engines in order to determine what parts of the page contain the most important information. We recommend that you use header tags in conjunction with the most important keywords on each webpage.
  • There are a number of pages where images are being displayed with the wrong width and height attributes. Where an image height and width are specified wrongly the browser will render the image at the specified height and width. This may result in an image either appearing pixilated (Where a small image is expanded) or force the user to download a large image when the actual image on the page is very small. This means that when viewing the page via a smart-phone or tablet the page may not render correctly resulting in a website that is unusable to an end-user. We recommend that you adapt responsive web design within your website. A further more thorough mobile test is available via Google.
  • There are a number of pages that do not appear to support print styling. This means that when a user prints a page there is a high chance that the page will print incorrectly and be un-readable. We recommend that your website implements a print stylesheet to format the web page so when printed the page is automatically printed in a user-friendly format.
  • There are a number of pages that do not appear have the optimum number of words on the page. Whilst there is no real way of telling what the best number of words to have on a page general consensus is that anything less then 250 words may be considered 'Thin Content'. We recommend a keyword count between 250 and 2500 words per page.
  • There are a number of pages that have not been updated recently. Search engines such as Google are more likely to spider and rank websites that are updated frequently. We recommend that you update the content on your webpages on a frequent basis.
