Technology
Rydberg RF electric-field sensing and measurement
Rydberg Technologies' platform technology employs atomic vapors as quantum sensors for radio-frequency, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz electric fields. The atomic RF technology is rooted in quantum-optical readout of electric fields from highly field-sensitive atoms in small vapor-cell sensing elements. One atomic sensing element achieves unprecedented bandwidth, spanning MHz to THz, and dynamic range extending below 1mV/m to 10kV/m and above. Our quantum RF sensing technology is versatile and can provide solutions ranging from ultra-high-sensitivity narrow-band RF detection to robust probes for measurements of high-intensity RF fields, addressing needs in a variety of application areas such as EMC testing, metrology, RF engineering, and circuit design.
Atomic receivers for AM and FM radio communication
Radio communication has relied on antenna-receiver technology largely unchanged since the advent of radio over a century ago. Rydberg Technologies' atomic radio receiver is a fundamentally new technology for radio receiving based on direct optical collection and demodulation of AM and FM radio waves in a small atomic receiver element. The receiver element is compact, contains no circuitry and can selectively or simultaneously receive carriers in bands ranging from MHz to millimeter-wave. The atomic radio promises new capabilities in communications and applications where an elevated level of reliability, robustness, security, and range are required.
Magnetic field sensing and measurement
Rydberg Technologies' atomic magnetic field probe technology provides robust, absolute-standard (atomic) measurement and sensing of magnetic fields up to tens of Tesla at high speed with a compact, circuit-free, all-optical sensing element. In the presence of a magnetic field the atoms in the probe develop a unique behavior that is strongly dependent on the applied external field amplitude and orientation. The ability to optically read the atomic response allows one to measure small variations on a high magnetic field background at the ppm level and determine the field orientation. The atomic magnetic field technology provides unique capabilities relevant to applications including condition monitoring of motors, strong magnet characterization, and calibration.
